Math - 6 6th Grade Student Syllabus
WHAT WILL THE STUDENT’S LEARN?
Students will review math concepts. They will determine prime factorization, LCM, GCF, and work through expressions with whole and rational numbers. Students will explore rates and ratios also and apply what they know to solving single step equations and inequalities. They will also explore geometric concepts including surface area and volume. Students will apply their knowledge of these functions to solve real world applications.
HOW WILL THE STUDENT’S BE ASSESSED?
Students will be formatively assessed by mid chapter quizzes and daily observations. Summative assessments will be in the form of chapter tests, periodic unit projects, and cumulative tests (every 3 chapters). Homework is assigned daily except on test days. Students will be assessed based on total points each quarter.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS COURSE?
This course addresses sixth-grade math students who fall in the typical range of each class. Students who successfully complete this course will progress to Math - 7 in seventh grade. Many class materials can be found on our website.
