Home Learning

At Knapdale School we do not set homework. There is a lot of research around that discuss positive and negatives around homework, however we have decided not to go down that path.

We do encourage our students to:

  • read each night

  • learn their basic facts

  • go out and learn some new skills - like playing a sport or playing an instrument or doing dance - something that they LOVE! This practices building relationships and friendships and social skills.

We do have some Homework Challenges for the Matai and Rimu classrooms that students can opt in to if they choose. They are attached under here. The Kowhai learners have a focus on developing a love and enjoyment of words and numbers!
