Opening Hours - 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Brief Explanation
The Welding Shop is designed to provide hands-on training and practical experience in various welding techniques. The purpose is to enhance the ability of the students relative to welding or the knowledge of the welding for the students by using any type of welding, to acknowledge the students about the incidents/accidents that can occur during welding and what kind of safety actions are required and how important it is for the workers. Each type has its own purpose of using and the preferable metals and joints will be different from each type. For example, we can use Arc welding for joining two thick metals, but thinner metals are more preferred for gas welding.
Objectives
Skill Development: To develop the skills needed to perform different welding processes, including arc welding, gas welding, and robotic welding.
Understanding Welding Techniques: To understand the principles and techniques behind each welding method and how they apply to different materials and joint configurations.
Quality Control: To train individuals in inspecting welds and maintaining quality control standards, ensuring the structural integrity and reliability of welded joints.
Safety Awareness: To emphasize safety practices in handling welding equipment and materials, preventing accidents and injuries.
Lab Materials
The Welding Shop is equipped with a variety of welding equipment to support different welding techniques. It includes Arc Welding Machines, which use an electric arc to melt metal and create strong welds. Gas Welding Torches are used for applying a flame to melt the base metals and filler rods for welding. Metal Insert Gas Welding Setups employ a shielding gas to protect the weld from oxidation, enhancing weld quality. Additionally, we have Robotic Welding Systems, which use automated machines to perform precise and repeatable welds, ideal for high-volume production and complex weld joints. These diverse tools provide the necessary training and hands-on experience to work effectively with various welding methods.
