Request and schedule (Spring 2021) Junior Interview with your school counselor
Prior to Interview: Complete ‘Junior Questionnaire’ in Naviance
Start thinking of 2-3 teachers for rec letters, Should be “Academic” & know you well
Attend your Junior Interview
Begin list of schools you are interested in
Know the application deadlines
Enter list into Naviance
Cover your bases: Reach, Target, Safety (Incl. Financial Safety)
Attend sessions given by visiting admissions reps
Visit Campuses, take tours, interview, ask questions
Establish/Utilize Naviance
Reach out to the counseling office to set this up.
Have open conversations about expectations, especially financial
Review preliminary list of colleges/universities
Review admissions criteria for each
Review financial implications for each
Contact your student’s school counselor with questions/concerns
Encourage your student to visit schools
Attend with them, ask questions, tour campuses
Be informed of all application deadlines
Attend financial aid awareness sessions (Check out FAME events page here)
Weigh all factors with your student, make an informed decision
Utilize Naviance account for communication and to monitor student progress
Conduct Junior interviews
Serve as a resource for the college search process
Answer questions related to:
Naviance, Common App, and financial aid, etc.
Review preliminary list of schools and support in determining “fit”
Write recommendation letter(s) as requested
Complete school forms for Common App colleges
Provide Traip Academy Profile to all Colleges/students
