Take the PSAT Test (Fall)
Use Naviance to start looking at colleges and explore their web sites.
Start attending college fairs in your area (where the colleges come in and give away information about their schools).
Get a job
Start a college savings account and regularly deposit into it.
"Job shadow" someone who does what you think you'd like to do
Get involved in extracurricular activities
Volunteer in your community
Explore careers and job opportunities in those careers
Study hard and do your best in school (your grades now will count towards college and will show up on your transcript).
Start to attend events on local college campuses (concerts, sporting events, activities etc.)
Meet with your high school counselor. Continue the conversations you had with them last year about your goals, career aspirations, and schools you are considering.
Talk to your friends about what they plan to do after college.
Talk to your parents and your friends’ parents about what they do.
