Celebrating Collaboration and Team Work
This term, Year 5 have shown exceptional growth in their ability to work together, demonstrating that collaboration truly strengthens learning. Across all subjects, pupils have been encouraged to share ideas, listen respectfully, and build on one another’s contributions — and they have risen to the challenge brilliantly.
In English, pupils worked in small groups to plan and write persuasive speeches. They took on different roles within their teams, such as note-taker, speaker, and editor, ensuring that everyone contributed to the final piece. It was wonderful to see pupils supporting one another, offering constructive feedback, and celebrating each other’s success.
In Mathematics, teamwork has been equally important. During problem-solving sessions, pupils combined their reasoning skills to tackle multi-step challenges. Many groups discovered that discussing their thinking aloud helped them break down complex questions and reach solutions more efficiently. This collaborative approach has boosted confidence and deepened understanding.
Our topic lessons have also highlighted the power of cooperation. Whether investigating natural resources, designing models, or preparing group presentations, pupils have demonstrated maturity, patience, and enthusiasm. They have learned that effective teamwork involves compromise, clear communication, and valuing every person’s strengths.
We are incredibly proud of the positive team spirit developing across the year group. Year 5 are learning that collaboration is not only useful in school but is also an important life skill that will help them in the future.

This month, KS2 students have been learning about the artists Frida Kahlo, Carl Warner, and Hokusai. They have used a variety of recycled materials, including cardboard and cloth bags, to create new and imaginative pieces of art.
The students were particularly inspired by Carl Warner’s foodscape artwork, and I have received some wonderful creations from home.
Well done, everyone!

Celebrating Health Week in Year 6TI
Health Week was a refreshing and uplifting experience for the children in Year 6TI. We began the week with meaningful gratitude activities, where the learners wrote thoughtful thank-you notes to their peers, teachers, and other staff members.
It was wonderful to see how expressive and appreciative they were. We also enjoyed a peaceful meditation session in class, giving the children an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and reset their minds before continuing with the day’s learning.
Throughout the week, the school treated us to a colourful variety of fresh fruits, and the children were particularly excited to try different options each day. It was a simple but powerful reminder of the importance of making healthy choices in our daily lives.
Overall, the week created a warm sense of community, kindness, and wellbeing in our classroom. The children loved every moment, and we look forward to building on these healthy habits throughout the term.

Our recent Year 3 learning experience was fun, where pupils took their instruction writing to the next level by actually making their own healthy Stone Age soup. This hands-on activity allowed them to combine their English skills with their Topic learning, helping them understand how early humans prepared food using simple, natural ingredients.
The children followed a clear set of instructions, used imperative verbs confidently and worked collaboratively to chop, mix, and cook just as Stone Age families might have done. Throughout the process, they reflected on questions such as: What ingredients would Stone Age people have realistically gathered?
How can we make sure our instructions are clear enough for someone else to follow? Why is sequencing important when cooking? The session not only strengthened their instruction-writing skills but also deepened their understanding of how people in the Stone Age survived, stayed healthy and shared meals together.Well done!
