In his book Atomic Habits, James Clear writes about rewards and says “ rewards are the end goal of every habit. The cue is about noticing the reward. The craving is about wanting the reward. The response is about obtaining the reward. We chase rewards because they serve 2 purposes: They satisfy us and they teach us”.
As we wrap up this challenging 17-week term, our collective reward is a well-deserved break. The journey to a successful term has been marked by dedicated effort and hard work. We've orchestrated unforgettable outdoor education trips, triumphed in ISSAK events, put up a Christmas festival celebrating 30 years like one never seen before, curated an inspiring poetry slam, and showcased our incredible talents at the recently concluded Art Fest. This break is a celebration of the unwavering commitment and diligence exhibited by students, teachers, and our invaluable support staff throughout the term.
Now is the time to pause, rejuvenate, and revel in well-earned time with family and friends. Take pride in your tireless contributions. You've earned this reward.
Wishing you a joyous and restful Christmas.
Mr Buga.
Every year, KISU holds a poetry slam; a dynamic platform where young minds express themselves through the art of spoken word, fostering creativity, confidence, and a love for language. This year, for the first time, our young learners engaged in the enriching experience of the Poetry Slam. The event showcased the diverse talents of primary students, providing them with an opportunity to share their unique perspectives and emotions. Our finalists were: Torife from year 1, Isabelle from year 2, Aku from year 3, Amara from year 4, Marina from year 5 and Vidyut from year 6. They all performed with brilliant talent and dazzling confidence and the judges voted second place for Isabelle and first for Aku. The participants not only displayed creativity in their writing but also in their delivery. It will always be an experience they will never forget. ( Farah)
Last Friday December 8th, KISU's auditorium vibrated with the captivating voices of our budding literary stars at the Poetry Slam 2023. They showcased their original compositions and raw talent from across the school, offering a glimpse into their emotions, experiences, and cultural perspectives on global issues.
From the heartfelt recitals our junior slammers, to the thought-provoking pieces of Key stage 3 slammers and mother tongue slammers, the evening resonated with a diverse chorus of stories. Each poem, uniquely crafted, weaved together personal journeys, poignant observations, and cultural nuances, captivating the audience with their authenticity and depth. Additionally, two professional poets graced the stage, inspiring both the audience and KISU poets with their own powerful words.

On Thursday 23rd of November the whole school celebrated Maths day. Students from every year group contributed to the construction of tetrahedrons, leading to the construction of an example of a fractal based on the sierpinski triangle. The secondary students joined in with students from the primary school to create a chalk walk of patterns and numbers, linking up all year groups. We also had Maths stations placed around the secondary school, where students were able to participate in sudoku puzzles, logic problems and brain teasers. Mr JJ encouraged students to complete a wall sized pascal's triangle and the entrance to the school hosted a popular estimate the candy jar. Kenny from year 10 was the closest with a guess of 197, the exact number was 192. The mathematics department also hosted a Maths assembly where Mr Jude conducted a bearing activity, where students and teachers tried to accurately follow instructions blindfolded. A house logic puzzle competition was also tackled by mixed year groups.
