Hands-on Science
There is nothing more effective for Year 5 pupils than hands-on, inquiry-based learning when exploring Science. This term, we brought this approach to life while introducing the topic of reproduction in flowering plants. Rather than relying solely on books, pupils were given the opportunity to investigate real flowers up close.
Each student carefully dissected a flower, identifying and examining its different parts. Using magnifying glasses and microscopes, they observed details that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. This practical experience allowed them to connect theory with real-world observation, deepening their understanding of how flowering plants reproduce.
The excitement and curiosity in the classroom were evident, as pupils asked thoughtful questions and shared their discoveries with one another. This active engagement not only strengthened their scientific knowledge but also encouraged critical thinking and collaboration.
By learning through direct experience, pupils developed a clearer and more lasting understanding of the topic, making this a highly successful and enjoyable unit of work.

Year 3 have successfully tuned into their exciting Term 3 topics with great enthusiasm, curiosity and energy. From the very first lesson, the children showed a strong interest in their new learning journey, especially their fascinating topic on Ancient Egypt.
They have been eager to explore the mysteries of the pyramids, pharaohs and the daily life of people in this ancient civilization. The classroom has been full of thoughtful and imaginative questions such as “How were the pyramids built?” and “What did children in Ancient Egypt learn at school?” demonstrating their growing curiosity and deeper thinking skills.
In Science, the children have continued to build on their prior learning about food and nutrition. They have enjoyed investigating different food groups and understanding the importance of daily food labels in keeping our bodies healthy and strong. The children have especially enjoyed sorting foods, analysing packaging, and making healthy choices.
Overall, Year 3 have shown excellent engagement, teamwork and enthusiasm. Their learning experiences this term are becoming truly memorable as they explore, question and discover new knowledge with excitement.

Art
This month, KS2 students have been highly reflective and creative in their artwork.
Year 6 produced outstanding pieces inspired by Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, as well as vibrant sun and moon designs influenced by Mexican folk art. Year 5 students explored Chinese art, with their Ming vase and floral compositions being particularly noteworthy. Year 4 demonstrated strong artistic skills and imagination through their drawings of different habitats. Meanwhile, Year 3 transported us back to Ancient Egyptian times with their excellent depictions of pharaohs and the Pyramids of Giza.
Well done to all students for their hard work and creativity.
