2CN Adventure at the Reptile Village!
Our recent educational trip to the Reptile Village was an exciting and enriching experience for our students. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world observation and hands-on exploration.
During the tour, students observed a wide variety of reptiles, including snakes, chameleons, tortoises and crocodiles. Many of these animals were rescued and are now cared for in purpose-built habitats within the village. Knowledgeable guides shared fascinating information about the reptiles’ life stages, unique adaptations, and important roles within their ecosystems. Students were especially intrigued to learn how each species survives and thrives in its environment.
The guided educational sessions focused strongly on ecology and conservation. Learners deepened their understanding of environmental stewardship and discussed the importance of protecting wildlife and natural habitats.
One of the highlights of the trip was the interactive experiences. Students observed feeding sessions, participated in nature walks, and had the opportunity to safely handle selected non-venomous species under close supervision. These moments encouraged respect, curiosity, and responsible attitudes toward wildlife.
Overall, the trip was both educational and memorable. Our students returned inspired, more knowledgeable about reptiles, animal growth, and with a greater appreciation for conservation efforts within our community.

In Maths this month, Year 1 have been learning to measure and compare length and height. We began by using cubes to measure how long or tall objects were, carefully counting and lining them up with no gaps.
The children then moved on to using rulers, learning to measure in centimetres and to start from zero. They have been using key vocabulary such as longer, shorter, taller and equal confidently in their discussions.
Well done, Year 1, for your careful measuring and fantastic effort!

Art
I am delighted to share with you the wonderful creative achievements of our KS 1 students in February.
Throughout their learning, the children have explored a wide range of designing skills while developing their understanding of bright colours through the topic of Seasons and Egyptian Art. They have demonstrated creativity, enthusiasm, and growing confidence in expressing their ideas visually.
Year 1 pupils thoughtfully reflected on the beauty of spring by creating vibrant artwork inspired by spring flowers. Their work showed careful observation, imaginative use of colour, and developing artistic techniques.
Year 2 pupils produced outstanding work inspired by Antarctica, creating detailed collage pieces that demonstrated excellent texture and composition skills. In addition, they designed and created striking collar necklaces inspired by Egyptian art, showing a strong understanding of pattern, symmetry, and bold colour choices.
We are incredibly proud of each child’s effort, creativity, and artistic growth.

Earlier this month, the 2CS classroom was transformed into a lively Class Shop, giving students a wonderful opportunity to apply their learning about money in a meaningful, hands-on way. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking on the roles of shopkeepers and customers, creating an engaging and realistic shopping experience.
Throughout the activity, students practiced recognising coins and notes, counting amounts in both pence and pounds, and carefully selecting the correct combinations to pay for items. They also developed their understanding of finding change, a skill that required careful thinking, problem solving, and accuracy. It was fantastic to see the children confidently using mathematical language such as total, cost, and change during their interactions.
Beyond mathematics, the shop experience supported important life skills. Students demonstrated teamwork, communication, and turn-taking while building confidence in real-world situations. The excitement and enthusiasm in the classroom were wonderful to witness, as learners connected their classroom knowledge to everyday experiences.
Activities like our Class Shop help children see the relevance of maths in daily life, strengthening both understanding and enjoyment. We are incredibly proud of how thoughtfully and responsibly the students approached this task. Well done, Year 2!

Art Club
Our Key Stage 1 Art Club students have been enthusiastically exploring a variety of creative techniques and materials. They designed and created beautiful beadwork pieces, demonstrating excellent fine motor skills and creativity. In addition, they used recycled materials to construct imaginative model houses, showing both innovation and an understanding of sustainability.
The way the students painted and decorated their creations was truly impressive. Their flower-themed artwork was particularly outstanding, reflecting careful attention to detail and a confident use of colour and pattern.
We are very proud of their efforts and look forward to continuing to explore art and craft with such talented and enthusiastic students.
