Last April, ES KIS Cheerleaders hosted their first cheer clinic, where two other international schools attended. On Saturday, May 31st, 2025, ES Cheer Club members traveled to Chadwick for an ES Cheer Competition!
Jamborees at KIS are informal tournaments or friendly competitions where students can engage in various sports or activities in a fun and supportive environment. These events are designed to emphasize participation, community building, and skill development. Jamborees provide students the opportunity to connect with their peers and compete in friendly matches against other international schools. Open to everyone, regardless of skill level, jamborees welcome all participants—from beginners to experienced athletes—to join in the excitement and camaraderie.
We offer three levels of sports jamborees to provide students with a positive and engaging experience suited to their skill level and interests. Below are descriptions to help parents understand what your child may choose to participate in.
Basic Jamborees (Fun & Inclusive) are designed for all students, regardless of experience or skill level, to participate in a fun and supportive environment. Students of all levels of ability, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to join. They are placed on mixed teams to play short games with a focus on teamwork, participation, and enjoyment rather than competition. No scores are tracked by hosting schools, and there is no emphasis on winning. The goal is to encourage involvement, build confidence, and foster a love for the sport in a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
Clinic Jamborees This level is designed for beginners and developing athletes to build skills and learn the fundamentals of the sport, but it is open to everyone, including experienced players who want to further develop their skills. Students rotate through coaching stations, practicing drills, learning techniques, and participating in scrimmages. These events provide a supportive environment with instruction from coaches, offering exposure to the sport without competition. Ideal for those new to the game or looking to improve, Clinic Jamborees focuses on learning, growth, and confidence-building. Usually, this type of jamboree is scheduled earlier in the sports season to help players develop a strong foundation before competitive play begins.
Competitive Jamborees are high-level events for students with prior experience who enjoy competition and want to test their skills against other teams. Games follow a bracket format, with teams playing multiple matches where scores are tracked and winners are determined. Due to limited spots, this level is only offered to a select few. While primarily for students in our Track 1 ASA program who have made the team through tryouts, coaches or coordinators may also invite players with strong abilities, even if they haven’t participated in a tryout. These are often held toward the end of the season.
