More than half of the high school girls are putting more makeup on, including the KISJ community. As a result, it can be seen at a glance that the number of students wearing makeup at school is rapidly increasing. Starting this semester, which is only 3 weeks ago, the government removed the indoor mask policy—with only exceptions for High-Risk Required Facilities such as hospitals and airports.
It was a significant change after almost three years of the pandemic as students had gradually stopped wearing their makeup when the mandatory mask policy started.
However, there are also people who continue to not wear makeup even after the mask policy update.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, all students and teachers of the KISJ community had to wear their masks to prevent being infected and spreading the virus. As a result, the number of students wearing makeup had significantly dropped.
This phenomenon has occurred as the masks prevent us from showing our faces to each other. There were other various opinions about how they felt about this situation.
Some of the KISJ community members said that after the pandemic, it felt like the time spent on makeup was useless and not using the time wisely. Also, some were afraid to show their faces, and stuck with the masks.
There are countless purposes for people doing makeup. It could be for self-satisfaction, to show someone, look in a way they want, to be ready for their day, and so on. Likewise, there is a variety depending on people about the way they regard makeup.
Specifically, it could be for the formal look/appearance, for the faculty members, regarding the parent visits, or students’ case perceptions of wearing makeup, they might think that putting makeup on is not as important as having a sleep. But for others, makeup is considered as part of the daily routine.
However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, nevermind the preference on makeup, not only in the KISJ community, but the general public thinks that the necessity of makeup has been highly reduced. The KISJ community mirrors the public perception.
If you’re someone who didn’t try to wear makeup on, since the mask policy has been released, it might be nice to wear brand new makeup on feeling the spring breeze these days. If not, still enjoy the fresh air without those masks which harassed you for almost 3 years!
