From the long past, there were very many mountains in Jeju island. Mountain Halla, Stone mountain, Seo Woo Bong, Daerok mountain, Sosu mountain peak, Siksan peak, Songak mountain, and many more mountains are in Jeju island. Many people in Jeju island climb a mountain in Jeju island to feel fresh air, to maintain or raise health, and to observe plants or animals in the mountain. However, even though many people who live in Jeju island like to climb a mountain in Jeju island, most of the people don’t know the information about the mountain they climb. So, I want to tell you guys information about the top 5 highest mountains in Jeju island.
5. Mountain Yeongju
Fifth highest mountains in Jeju island are Mountain Yeongju. Mountain Yeongju has a height of 362m. It is a parasitic volcano, which is a mountain that is made between a big volcano on the main crater ridge. Mountain Yeongju have steep slope except for the east rode. Also, Mountain Yeongju have many hundred meter to two hundred meters hilly, so the mountain has a best condition to do a paragliding. The special part about mountain Yeonghu is the “stairway to heaven”. On the middle of Mountain Yeongju, we could observe the “stairway to heaven”. Looking up from the bottom, a thing that looks like a staircase that is in contact with the sky and leads up to the sky is called the “stairway to heaven”.
4. Mount Sanbang
Fourth highest mountains in Jeju island are Mountain Sanbang. Mountain Sanban has a height of 395m. This mountain is named Sanbang because Sanbang means mountain with oysters and on Sanbang mountain, there is a sea cave. Mountain Sanbang is so big that we could see Mountain Sanbang at most of the Southwest places. Also, Mountain Sanbang is a bell shaped volcanic ash, which is a mountain that is made of eruption of a very large lava. The whole part of the mountain Sanban is composed of lava mass. From an experiment, it was calculated that the lava mass has a age of 700,000 to 800,000 years.
3. Mount Soroc
Third highest mountains in Jeju island are Mountain Soroc. Mountain Soroc has a height of 442m. Most of the sides of Mountain Soroc are very steep, there is only one way to go up mountain Soroc easily, out of 12 courses. The only way that people could easily go up to Mountain Soroc is named uphill slope, which has a continuous low slope. The whole part of the Mountain Soroc is well preserved, differently with many other mountains. There is nothing on trails, there are no tire mat, and even eco - friendly mat. Only natural roads are in Mountain Soroc.
2. Mountain Daerok
Second highest mountains in Jeju island are Mountain Daerok. Mountain Daerok has a height of 466m. Mountain Daerok is easy to go up. All the way, going up to mountain Daerok has an easy difficulty. Mountain Daerok is famous for nature walking and well - looking circumstances. On Mountain Daerok, in the middle of the mountain climbing, people could observe many trees, many caves, and many flowers. Most of the parts of the Mountain Daerok is well - preserved. Many animals are living in Mountain Daerok, most of the people who climbed Mountain Daerok observed nests made of trees.
Mount Hanla
First highest mountains in Jeju island are Mountain Hanla. Mountain Hanla has a height of 1947m. Mountain Hanla is the only mountain that is working right now. On the top part of Mountain Hanla, we could observe a lake named Baengnokdam. Sometimes we could see water at Baengnokdam, but most of the time we couldn’t see that water. There are 7 courses to go up to Mountain Hanla. Only two courses out of seven courses are able to go to the top of mountain Hanla. .
Top 5 highest mountains in Jeju island are Mountain Hanla, Mountain Daerok, Mountain Soroc, Mountain Sanbang, and Mountain Yeonju. These 5 mountains each have different exteriors and interiors characteristics, even though they grew up on the same land.
