Kyumin K. is a senior at Korea International School, Jeju. She is an individual who always has paid attention to what happens in society and its people. Through Honors Journalism, she hopes to make the student body's voice heard within the school community. Outside of school, she hopes to increase public awareness of discrimination related to human rights, such as children's and women's rights. She is interested in gender inequality and is willing to tell the audience stories about unfairly treated people. She is passionate about forensic psychology and hopes to be involved in activities that improve victims' rights in the future.
Brian K., currently a senior at KISJ, likes to spend time with his friends and meet new people to enlarge his experiences. In school, Brian participates in various activities that can help him grow into a better person, such as clubs and sports. Brian recognizes the importance of communication and relationships with other people, so he tries to establish solid rapport with other people. Because of his perception regarding relationships, meeting new people and acquiring new information from others is important to him. Moreover, his diplomatic skills assist him while he cooperates with various interviewees. As an Honors Journalism student, Brian enjoys interviewing not only members of KISJ, but a wider variety of people from the GEC and Jeju community. Aaron S. has been a journalist at KISJ since his junior year of high school. He has attended KISJ since Grade 7 which was 2016, and it is his 6th year at KISJ. His field of interest is Economics and Political Science, especially the relationship between politics and economics policies in the policymaking process. After learning the history of Keynesian economics and Supply-side economics, he realized that there was no definite answer in the policy making process. With his interests in Policy Making, he hopes to become a policymaker at the Korean Government who works for public interests. Even though he has own political preference, he sought to maintain neutrality in his writing. As an extrovert and active person, Aaron hopes KISJ students will be interested in Politics and Economics after reading his articles.
Benny H. is a senior currently attending Korea International School, Jeju Campus. Benny joined KIS Jeju back in 2013, and this is his 9th and final year in this school. In the vast field of journalism, he enjoys researching and writing about public policy, international or public relations, and political science. As Dragons Tale is KISJ’s community-based publication site, Benny drafts relatable articles by connecting government policies with the impact of any changes in the Global Education City or the juvenile policies. He continuously expands his interest in school by being part of the secretariat for both KISJ’s MUN and Mock Trial Conferences. Outside of school, he extends his opportunities for growth by being part of the government branch of the federal government, embassies, and researching with global think tanks that conduct political and IR research internationally with scholars in the field. As a sharp, critical-thinking journalist, Benny seeks to continue to deliver news that represents the people, for the people, and to welcome all perspectives from diverse communities when reading his articles in the Dragon's Tale.
Eric K, a junior at Korea International School Jeju (KISJ), is an energetic and friendly student who enjoys playing basketball and traveling to new places. This is his fifth year in KISJ and second year taking journalism. In his free time, he writes for the KISJ Athletic Council about the school’s sports events. During his two years of journalism, Eric grew a lot as a writer. His improvements were not merely in basic writing skills like grammar and structure, but also in the creativity of gathering and reporting information. Before taking journalism class, he believed that research through the internet is the best way to gather information. However, now he collects details by employing diverse strategies such as interviewing or photographing. As the photo implies, Eric, while proud of his growth so far, always believes that there’s more room for him to grow as a journalist and a student.
Stella L. is a current sophomore, class of 2024, attending Korean International School Jeju. Passionate and well-round, Stella reveals her introspective personality through MBTI as ISFP. As an adventurer (ISFP), she tends to show aspects of being introverted, observant, and empathetic. Stella always challenges herself to take the courage to be “extroverted” for interviews which her sympathetic personality creates more insightful interviews. Observant manner is one of the notable traits that she uses to write factual and unbiased articles with consideration. Her adventurous aspect constantly motivates her to continue striving as a journalist.
Raina H. is a sophomore in KISJ, and this is her 6th year at Jeju Island. She likes watching videos related to social issues in different countries, which intrigued her in journalism. She is not a big fan of writing, but she enjoys finding new books to read. Also, she loves to play sports like badminton and volleyball with her friends. Raina prefers to spend time during the weekend in her house rather than going out for activities. Raina describes herself as a kind person and believes that being honest and humble is one of the most important characteristics humans should have in mind. Currently, she is working hard for her dream school.
Yubeen J. is a grade 12 student in Korea International School Jeju. Yubeen is a bright girl who always tries to find the positive side of things. Even when she feels uncomfortable, she finds something that she can enjoy and be grateful for. Her characteristic positively influences the people around her. As a journalist, she always tries to write rationally. Furthermore, to write an unbiased article, she puts a lot of effort into equally covering all the different perspectives and thoughts that people have over the topic.
Garyeong K., currently a senior, has a fun nickname for Gary. Like her nickname Gary, Garyeong likes to stay calm and always acts slowly but eventually reaches her goals without any hesitations. Garyeong is also a very introverted girl that she even took a picture in the corner of a room. As a young adult, Garyeong often imagined herself in the future designing products and apps for a more convenient life for everyone. In other words, she likes to be helpful and encourages many people who need help but always stays in a state of neutrality. Not being leaned toward only one side can be a disadvantage for my friendship, but is an advantage of being a trustworthy journalist. By being unbiased, I would like to publish my ideas about innovative ways for a better society both in and out of the school through journalism and motivate more people to do creative thinking.
Jason H. is a senior at KISJ and a journalist who loves to swim. His passion for swimming and helping people in all aspects of language arts flows through the stories he writes based on his personal experiences in culture and nature to let people respect others and protect the Earth. In addition, Jason has studied Principles of Engineering at Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and he is also a certified shark conservationist in Fiji. Being aware of the importance of sustainability, Jason primarily conveys an insightful interpretation of maritime news to initiate a positive impact on the world. The Seoul native now lives in Jeju because of the beautiful beaches that Jeju offers. In his spare time, Jason enjoys swimming and he was once a captain of the AVER (Advanced Vex Engineer) team, including sharing knowledge on robotics.
Grace K., a senior at KISJ, is an intuitive person who is caring for those around her. It is her first year as a journalist. Grace always looks for a social issue or problem to write an article, not only for Jeju and her community but for the world. She is a person who listens attentively to her friends. Grace communicates with her peers with encouragement. Her characteristic shows the most light when she leads an interview. As a listener, she wants to hear various perspectives on various world problems and social complaints. Notwithstanding her listening skills and her delightful presence during interviews, Grace enjoys, in her free time, reading novels and sharing specific parts with her friends.
Lua L. is a passionate and responsible student who is a senior at Korea International School Jeju Campus. She is an active member of the school community, participating in various after-school sports and clubs. As the president of the GIN club, she fundraised money and freely distributed eco-friendly tumblers to the entire school, reducing the use of plastic and paper cups. In her free time, she writes about her day in her diary every night since 6th grade. She feels proud when she finally closes her diary every night and is motivated by her past entries to continue working on a better future. Her love of journaling has prompted her to join the journalism class this year. As a journalist, she is a well-organized writer, who does not impose any ideas on the readers. She tries her best to incorporate her interest and the readers’ interest so that her writing is intriguing and entertaining to everyone. Matthew J. is a current junior attending KISJ that loves debating any subject. His MBTI is ENTP, also known as a debater, and enjoys the mental exercise found in questioning the prevailing mode of thought. His article focuses on modern technology, and he spends most of the time researching information about new technologies. His huge interest in technology has been part of his life for several years and now, he has numerous electronic devices with modern technology. As a tech lover, he has extensive knowledge about Apple products. Also, he is one of the Apple fanatics. Interviews with him will usually take longer than others because he will generate endless follow-up questions based on the interviewee’s answer. He is an in-depth journalist with a curiosity for new things and a personality that delves into one topic.
Ryan S. is a hardworking junior student in KISJ Jeju. Since elementary school, Ryan has been writing in English for a long time, which eventually became one of his strongest traits. This influenced him to have a strong passion for journalism and hopes to pursue a great career as a journalist one day. Journalism is not the only field that Ryan is interested in. Ryan also has a huge love for sports, especially soccer, watching teams such as FC Barcelona or Manchester United daily as well as playing it. He has been in multiple tournaments in a soccer team winning a variety of trophies, making it his favorite sport. Jiwun K. is currently in 11th grade at Korea International School Jeju(KISJ) and this is his first year taking journalism. Jiwun is a very passion-driven student who likes to think outside of the box. Jiwon S. is a tenacious, passionate journalist at Korea International School Jeju (KISJ). As a high school senior with a physical disability, she feels a strong responsibility for representing the disabled minority group worldwide. Unfortunately, there are often misunderstandings about the special accommodations this demographic deserves because of lacking information about their needs. However, Jiwon believes that these misconceptions can be resolved if those with and without disabilities share honest thoughts, which is why she wanted to become a journalist. Jiwon, a motivated STEM student, decided to take a journalism class since she recognizes the value of exchanging varying perspectives to resolve conflicts. Outside of school, Jiwon further supports the disabled community, who are often excluded from society, by founding KISJ’s first prosthetic device volunteer club. As the head editor of the social media team, her work has been acknowledged through a community partnership with e-NALBE, a global low-cost prosthetic upper limb device organization. Even after she graduates from KISJ, Jiwon wishes to continue writing articles about disabled people’s lives to spread awareness about minorities with disabilities to help make the world a more empathetic place where people can understand and support each other in spite of differences.
Karam C. is a senior enrolling in Korea International School located in Jeju Island. She is well known as the most talented female athlete among the school community. Her enthusiasm in sports ultimately led her to being awarded with the Underclassman Athlete Of The Year. The perseverance that she learned from sportsmanship contributed to Karam never giving up in any circumstance. This trait specifically helped her as a journalism student as she could focus and elaborate on a particular topic. She plans on continuing her career as an athlete and a journalist in the future.
Daniel K. from 11th grade is deeply interested in maintaining health and a fit body. He loves to play sports in his leisure time especially with his friends. In the current state of the pandemic, Daniel is quite worried about many different issues about COVID-19, especially regarding vaccines and COVID-19 restrictions. He was not quite certain whether those issues were reasonable or not. As a journalist and a member of the GEC community, he wants to gather more information about these issues and spread it to those who are not confident with their opinions regarding COVID-19. Hence, Daniel can formulate his own opinion by referencing the reaction of the readers. Even after the pandemic, Daniel plans to expand his gathered knowledge about how to be healthy and fit to the readers.
Currently a senior at KISJ, Gisele enjoys spending time with new people to hear their stories as she believes that such experience would enrich her worldview. Her passion for meeting new people translated to her passion for conducting interviews. As a student journalist, Gisele strives to find interesting topics to write fruitful articles for the community, not only for KISJ but also for Jeju Community as well. Other than that, she spends much of her free time watching movies or reading and is engaged in various school activities as well.
Justin, in grade 11, is a bright and active person. Since he is an active person, he likes to play sports, especially basketball, so he attended KISJ basketball team. Also, Justin, he likes to spend time with his friends rather than being alone. Because of these personalities, the favorite thing to do is to play basketball with his friends. Moreover, he really likes to eat food. He likes every food and eats very well. He usually eats a lot after playing basketball with his friends.
Yoona is the 11th grade and participates in volleyball and Red Cross Youth. Yoona is highly involved in a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs. She is a very social and passionate person. She is well organized because she frequently checks her daily schedule and to-do list, managing to maintain a stable school life and steady growth as a person, which led her to growth. In her leisure time, she enjoys walking with her dog. Her desired college major is chemistry.
Yoonah, a senior embracing her last high school year, is an active person. She likes to be involved in many activities that have an opportunity to gain new experiences and relationships. Jinyoung, a senior in Korean International School Jeju, is a young adult who wishes to become the next generation of scientists who would change the world. His dream wasn’t always to become a scientist though. During his youth, Jinyoung was a talented baseball player and was even scouted by a youth team coach to become a professional. His elbow injury has made him give up his baseball dream, but Jinyoung didn’t give up there. He found a new dream as an engineer and is constantly working to solve the mysteries of the universe and change people’s lives.
Sue is an enthusiastic junior student who is looking forward to going to college. People may remember her as “the one that does art”, and surely that is the first thing that she enjoys the most in her life. For this reason, she currently participates in an art volunteer group that has the purpose of saving the natural environment around us. Dongyeon had come to KISJ this year. He had been studying in a normal Korean middle school before coming here. He had a pretty good grade then. He was confused about the international school system when he first came here. But now, he has adjusted to the system, and is getting more and more better grades.

Benny is a sharp, energetic, and passionate journalist in KIS Jeju. This is his junior year, and he joined KIS Jeju in 2013. This is his 7th year at KIS Jeju. He started to gain interest in journalism during his 8th-grade year in middle school. From then, he started to follow many news media to catch up with worldwide activities. He believes that journalism is an important aspect of our lives because it provides information in our daily lives that directly affect us in the modern world which makes us take different decisions. Since his 9th-grade year, he started to join NGOs, and clubs to build a journalist career himself. He previously worked in PPJ (Platform Post Jeju) as an editor, and wrote for the Mexican Embassy in Korea that spread awareness of Mexico to South Korea. He is currently a Dragon’s Discovery (School Club Magazine) Head in KIS Jeju and mentors students who are also writing awareness pieces for foreign embassies in Korea. Alex is a grade 11 student who is attending Korea International school Jeju campus. Alex is a very optimistic person who always tries to think positively. He does not get depressed or negative even when there is a problem. When the problem occurs, he always tries to find the solution instead of staying negative and making the problem worse. However, sometimes he is so realistic that at times he can not empathize with others’ problems and only tries to solve the problem. This makes people mad that he only looks at the problem, not the people. He has a lot of hobbies to do during free time. Hello, my name is Brian and I am a junior at this wonderful school, KISJ. Since I was in middle school, I always wanted to be a politician in the future. To accomplish this dream, I decided to take Journalism and I believe this course helps me to achieve what I want. I usually like to read various articles from all over the world because I believe a great politician must well-known about actualities. However, not only to accomplish my dream, but I also enjoy just reading various articles because I enjoy reading articles and know about new information. Eric, a sophomore in KISJ, is a very active person who especially enjoys playing sports. The sport that he likes most is basketball; however, he still loves to play badminton and baseball. Also, he is very active in meeting friends and new people. Usually, he meets his friends outside of school every weekend, spending time eating together, and having conversations. This is his third year for both in school and the dorm. In the dorm, he usually likes to watch Youtube videos or sleep during leisure time when he is tired. Lastly, he loves to travel around many countries, visiting new places.
Jihoon, a senior in KISj, is a why-man who enjoys asking “why” and tries to understand and define everything, from small mathematical equations to the universal scale. He loves to discuss some philosophical topics and recap until the conclusion is incontestable. However, since he wants his conclusion to be perfect, he still struggles with major topics such as “what is the purpose of human life?” Jihoon has a variety of hobbies: Korean chess(Baduk), short track skating, theatre, mathematics, badminton, video games, photography, or cycle. Yet, even enjoying those hobbies, the why-man Jihoon does not stop asking and answering himself about everything.
Kyumin is a junior who likes drawing which is the reason why she spends her leisure time drawing with her tablet. She likes to draw people rather than sketching the scenery. While drawing, she enjoys listening to different kinds of music such as jazz, classic, modern classic, and pop songs. Her favorite time of the day is when she gets into bed because she loves the soft, cozy, and comfortable feeling her bed and the fact that a day is over gives her. She also loves cats. However, she cannot pet them or play with them for a long time because she has a hair allergy.
Won Jun is a ninth-grade male student at KIS-Jeju Campus. Although the world is suffering from COVID-19 Pandemic, he lives with a safer and more comfortable mind in Jeju Island, a relatively clean region of COVID-19 and called Jinju in East Asia. He is very interested in mass media, among other things, the activities of delivering messages to the public through television. He likes to study society and human interest in depth, and to convey it succinctly, concretely, and vividly to the public based on it. For that purpose, currently he is taking a journalism class. Moreover, he is interested in practicing theories learned in school in society. He has a lot of interest and affection for the socially disadvantaged, such as orphans, single mothers, and the disabled. As a result, as part of their concrete practice, he not only continues to volunteer for organizations with disabilities, but also continues to make donations for them every month. He is also a warm-hearted person who leads various activities as the leader of the ninth-grade club of the disabled organization. By the time COVID-19 Pandemic was on the rise recently, his club colleagues and he also held a "Non-Face-To-Face Music Concert" for the disabled to console and encourage them, who were lonely, tired and exhausted.
Minji is a junior who loves active activity so much that she is considering joining the volleyball team, badminton team, and soccer team as well. She enjoys playing sports but also looking at the actual matches which are held at KISJ high school. In the left over time she usually draws, paints, and wonders about herself. Also, she enjoys watching netflix with a bunch of snacks and she finds them more interesting than books. However, she doesn't watch netflix all the time; Instead, she also participates in the volleyball team which until now is her favorite sport.
His name is Tim and he is 10 grade student in KISJ High School. This is his first year to write about Journals and he is on the stage of trying his best to improve his writing and journalism skills. The part where he is attracted to Journalism is when he successfully writes an awesome statement. Also, outside of the school, he really enjoys spending time inside his room, mostly sleeping. Sleeping helps him to relax his body for a while which provides energy to improve his academic aspects. He is not an active type person so he enjoys indoor activities.
Minjun, who is a sophomore in Korean international school Jeju, has lots of things to tell about. He lived in Guri city in Gyeonggi-do, Korea until 7th grade, and he lived in Langley, Canada for a year, and then moved to KISJ when he was in grade 8. He is a very active person, he loves to play sports that are competitive, and his desire for winning is massively big. In contrast, he has a different aspect, which is that he likes to read fiction books, and his favorite fiction book is Harry Potter series which was written by J.K Rowling. Lastly, he is satisfied with his life overall, and hoping to become a shopping mall entrepreneur since he is interested with fashion.
Minah is a junior in Korea International School Jeju who is highly organized and passionate about her work. She feels accomplished when she crosses out the plans for the day in the diary, which is a habit that she established to make her day efficient and meaningful. She might look like a girl who is not prudent, but she is highly result-oriented - she constantly checks her goal to motivate herself. Minah loves to be around people and likes to find a common ground with a stranger and communicate with them. On her normal days, she takes a walk with her friends, watches Netflix, and listens to music that she likes. So far, she found out that fantasy is not the type of genre that goes along with her simply because she can’t engage in the storyline. She likes realistic fictions - Before Sunrise is her favorite movie and R&B is the type of music genre that makes her feel comfortable. Aaron is a junior who loves playing sports and history. This is his fifth year at KISJ, starting from 7th grade. He is an active and extroverted person who likes to socialize with other students. Especially, he likes to play sports, such as basketball and soccer. Beside his personality, his favorite subject is history since he likes to learn from the mistakes of the past. Jaewon is a senior who is obsessed with soccer. He plays and watches soccer during all of his free time. He enjoys watching the English Premier League and supports Leicester city, which is a professional football club in the 1st division. He also plays in the KISJ boys soccer team as a striker. His other favorite things are dogs. He used to raise a dog when he was a child, and he loves dogs as they are adorable and active. He especially likes Bichon Frise because they are fluffy and charming.
Sarah is in 11th grade at Korean International School, and it’s her first year of being a journalist. She is a very positive and energetic person. She never loses her hope even when she is in terrible situations. She spreads her energy to her friends which invigorates them to be happy and joyful. She always works hard to exceed and improve.
