Dear. Mr. Everything,
Hi, Mr. Everything. I can understand that after school activities like sports and music activities are very valuable as much as academic activities. There are many reasons you might love after school activities and whatever the reason is, do not give up all your interest in afterschool activities. There are several ways you can effectively accomplish both of your interests.
As a student, academics are essential for college applications but also, after school activities are an essential part of school life. As a high school counselor and mother, I can give you some advice to help you find the answer to this situation. After School activities are indeed important and I understand that you have a great passion for them. However, unless you are targeting to go to sports, music, or drama major, try focusing a bit more on your academic activities. The main goal as a student in school is to go to a “good” college. Even though after school activities mean a lot to you personally, you will regret when you do not get the expected grades. To balance these two interests, plan your schedule to finish your homework and academic stuff first and if you have extra time to use, use it as a time to do after school activities.
After School activities are one of the hobbies you can do after you finish your academic activities. When you get good grades and also do after school activities, you will feel confident about yourself and can perform better in any activities you do. I hope this advice could help you set your schedule and I support both after school and academic activities! Have a nice day!
