Dear The Mentor Next Door John,
Hello. Most of my friends have already heard from the universities that they have applied to for next year, but I haven’t yet and I am FREAKING out. Help!
Sincerely,

Dear The Mentor Next Door John,

Dear Withered Senior,
Hello. Thank you for sharing your concern with me. As a person who once waited for college letters, I know exactly how frightened and anxious you might be. But if you continue to think about college decisions, it will just cause more stress. I recommend making a hobby. I know that most of your teachers will tell you not to slack off but finish strong. However, giving a short break to your tired brain that has worked hard for the last twelve years isn’t a bad idea. So, try going for a walk or get your favorite drink while listening to your best playlist. If you want to try something new, I recommend jogging. I jogged one mile every day, and the feeling of accomplishment freed me from all the stress.
If having a hobby still doesn’t make you feel better, watch some college vlog videos on YouTube. I thought it would be painful to look at those, but after all, it made me feel like I’d already been accepted to my dream school. I especially recommend watching move-in vlogs. Your thoughts might shift into thinking about how to decorate your dorm room esthetically!
My last piece of advice is related to sleeping. I don’t know if it’s only me, but sometimes, I couldn’t go to bed because I was so worried that I might get rejected from every school I applied to. If this sounds familiar, try listening to sleep meditation videos. It might be common advice, but there’s a reason why many people recommend meditation. The best videos are from “Mindful Yoga with Eileen” and “Goodful.” The first one is in Korean, and the second one is in English. Both of these videos made me go to bed in five minutes.
Getting rid of your anxiety might not be easy. However, think that everything is out of your hands. There is nothing that you can do more, and you did your best for the last twelve years. Trust the time and effort that you have spent to get this far. Everything is going to be fine. Believe in yourself.
Signed
John
