Last month, in September, PYP celebrated its first ever Peace day. To get ready for Peace Day, the PYP students were asked to draw and write things connected to Peace. Each class was given golden colored leaves to write or draw a wish about peace. During break times, the students were invested to draw pictures connected to what peace smelled, looked, felt and tasted like. On that day, many students dressed up in anything connected to home. In the morning there was a parade to show each other our ‘home’ clothes. Then our KISPA group organized a fair to showcase different cultures at KIS. There were games and a lot of delicious food! Overall, the week was peaceful and we hope to do it again next year with even more activities.

When it's the first time you have to do exhibition everthing would start of great but there will be this part that you will face your challenge. For me my challege was me and my group can't decide when should we all meet up together and take action together. But after you pass that part it will be the easy part now.Well...not very the easy part but it's just about backing our work.People were also very tired of backing the our work because not every one is helping for me I see people not doing there work and just talking with there friends.
When Nist international school came to our school and came and look at our exhibition some of us was nervous, exited and some of the grade 5 was mad because they keep pushing the table and touching our work.Well we have to show them how to be principled when we go to there school and check out there exhbition in MAY.During exhibition many of the grade 5 got very exhausted because of standing for too long during exhibition you can't sit you have to invite people to come too your topic. But after exhibition I know that everyone will feel like they have learned something after exhibition.

Last month, on October 28th, PYP celebrated Halloween. Everybody came to school dressed up in scary and funny costumes. The first thing we did was we had a halloween parade. There were winners from every house in every grade. After that, the grade 4s and 5s kindly arranged Halloween party games for us. Throughout the day, each class got a chance to go play the games. They were A LOT of fun! The PYP students also had a ‘Halloween Space’ decorating challenge. Every grade had to work together to decorate their common area. All the spaces looked great! The winning class was EY3! They won ice treats for each member of the class. Overall, Halloween was very fun! I’m sure everybody can’t wait for next Halloween!

In March , the grade 5 students presented the PYPX Exhibition. This event is the biggest event of the year! The exhibition consists of students presenting their research to the KIS community. Learners worked in groups, or alone, to research an issue that 'bugged' them. Students researched issues such as plastic pollution, waste management, and food waste. Also, taking action was very important and a big part to creating a successful presentation to show.
After the exhibition, the grade 5 students met with Ms. Beccy Fox to discuss any future action that will continue to happen here at KIS. So far, we decided that we want to add a recycling community to stop the plastic pollution problem. It will be run by Eli G5A and she will be adding more recycling bins to help reduce plastic waste in the school. There will also be a policy to bring in your own water bottles, not store bought plastic bottles. This is just one idea that the Grade 5 students had to help KIS be more environmentally sustainable.
Overall, the PYP Exhibition was a lot of work but it taught us many new things and it was alot of fun. It was a great experience to be a part of as it helped showcase all our PYP learning. It was a wonderful experience to be a part of.
Thai people know that Songkran is a big festival! In the primary building we had a contest called “Songkran door decoration”. The Songkran door decoration was a challenge where all our grades, from EY1-G5, participated in. The challenge was to decorate the classroom door in a Songkran theme. Our winners this year were EY2 and G4B. They had a very creative design! They won a prize and all the students got house points for their effort and participation. Not only did we have to create a door design but students were also free to wear a Thai shirt or a Songkran shirt. Thai teachers wanted us to design things to help us inquire into how we could represent the Songkran festival.

Sustainability, you may have heard in many articles or videos about keeping a healthy sustainable planet. What sustainability really means is mainly about maintaining resources. For example, if you catch a fish from a lake or river, then there will be more fish because of the birth of a new fish from a growing family. Maybe even trees, you cut down a tree and then replace it with a new sapling.
There is always a replacement rate, the tree you cut down, you replace it in the rate. We call that an equilibrium. But, the world is not doing that, instead the world is cutting down trees faster than planting a new sapling in the soil. That’s how the world’s major problems are created. The executive consumption includes climate change, plastic pollution, air pollution and declining ecosystem health are all part of not being a sustainable planet.
The world is now evolving from being a hero to almost being zero because of non - sustainable problems. The world needs to be fixed and fast. We can change the world before it is too late.
We also focus on the Three E’s. They are environment, economy and equity. Tt’s not just about understanding that we need to manage all of those, it’s about understanding how they are connected between others.
We have been missing a lot of fun activities because of home learning and this was a super way to celebrate real and reel Superheroes in our lives! 21st May all PYP students dressed up as their favorite Superheroes!
On that day everyone including the teachers dressed up as creatively as they wanted. We dressed up as Wonder Women, Captain America, Dog Man, Doctors, Mom, Dad, Nurses, Delivery Man, Captain Underpants, Painter, and lots of fun book characters.
Students took photos and uploaded them to a special padlet and they had to write why they chose to be this superhero! We all had such an amazing time looking at our friends' photos!
Fun activities were organized by Ms. Daisy where students made superhero designs on bread! Ms. Lindsay read fun superhero books and Mr. Chris made us listen to and guess superhero music. Grade writing assessment was made fun of as it was in a superhero theme!
At the end of the day 3 winners were chosen from each grade and they were given prizes which were picked up by the parents from the school! It was an awesome and fun day!
On 14 May, the student council organised an activity that we could do while we are still at home. Home learning is not like normal learning because we can’t do things face to face so it’s hard to find activities to do.
The activity that we planned was a pajama day!! Imagine wearing PJ’s when we are actually studying and in our Zooms and Meets for the whole day!
We had to take pictures of us in our pajamas as we got out of bed with our hair wild and all over the place and post it on a padlet! There were so many people with hair on their faces and everyone with their PJ on! Some were even sleeping! Students had their favorite stuffed animal and nighttime storybooks in their photos!
It was a fun way to enjoy ourselves while studying. This gives us a chance to do something fun and creative and not make home learning boring!
At the end of the day at 2:00, Ms. Lindsay and Mr. Zack hosted a meet for the whole PYP to join to read some books together. While Ms. Lindsay and Mr. Zack were reading books to us, we could lay down and relax. Mr. Zack was actually singing! He was so funny and cool!
At the end of the day, we all had a fun and relaxing PJ Day!

Loy Krathong is a lantern festival celebrated in Thailand. Loy Krathong means floating basket. People celebrate Loy Krathong by making Krathongs out of banana leafs and put in flowers, incense sticks and candle in it. Then the Krathong is floated in the river.
People thank the water goddess and ask for her forgiveness.
KIS celebrated Loy Krathong online and in school. Students wore thai clothes and made paper Krathongs.
Students learnt about the history of Loy Krathong and how it is celebrated in Thailand and then wrote what they feel about the festival. Janvi Gupta G2A

The Idea of The Soccer Defence Net
Protection for the students so they may place with a peace of mind (the net might not look like this)
By Lucas G5B on Behalf of The PYP Student Council 2020-2021
I remember every other day when we would be rallied to the student council to discuss the issues and problems that roamed the school, desperately seeking a solution. Over the course of 2020-2021, we celebrated numerous small successes. One of these was when we stopped a student from giving out live worms in cups. However, the endeavor that I shall be sharing today is the Soccer Defence Net.
During one discussion in late October 2020, Eli and I brought up the issue of putting up a protective net around the soccer field. As we looked further into it, we started to notice the real magnitude of the problem as everyday, students would play on the hill and coincidentally, the football pitch is situated right next to it. This means that a miskicked ball may sometimes hit students playing around the field. We realised that this issue needed to be addressed.
Soon after, Ms Magdalena, Eli and I sought permission with Mr. Paul, the Head of School and other teachers and staff as well. After receiving Mr. Paul's approval, we had another series of brainstorming sessions on how best to raise funds to purchase a net that serves our purpose.
We finally settled on a Popcorn Sale! Ah, thinking back, I can still hear the excited cheers of my fellow council members as we looked forward to hosting the event. I recall the wonderful aroma of the salted butter popcorn and excited faces of the students queuing up to purchase their popcorn.
We did it! We were able to raise enough funds and this summer, the net will be installed, just in time for the beginning of next academic year! Look out for it, guys!
May 21st is superhero day and when you have dressed up as the superhero you want, Take a picture and post it on seesaw.
Check out Niska's Video to learn more.
The KIS library is now available during lunch time on school days.everybody really liked that, and every lunch there are lots of kids every time.there's fun stuff like coloring and reading and some students have also started to make books to put in the library, too.Make sure to visit the library during lunchtime!
We have a little mountain next to the football field and a lot of students play there,so a lot of people got hurt from being hit by footballs lately so we were thinking to put a net there and we are selling popcorn to get the money for it.
Hello friends, there was be a Popcorn sale on March 5th,We hope you will all enjoy the delicious Popcorn. You will be paying money to your teacher and then the teacher will get the popcorn for us and bring it upstairs so we can social distance and not a have a crowd.
