Thanksgiving Break is coming! 🦃🍂
We're looking forward to a long break next week. Remember that the school will be closed from Nov. 24th to Nov. 28th. We'll see our KIPPsters back on December 1st!
Our students' safety is our top priority. 🛡️
We would like to share important information provided by our regional team and the state regarding students and what to do when presented with danger. Reminder: Our school runs emergency drills at least once a month, so our staff and students are always prepared.
Before and after-school care is available 🎒
Remember that this year, KACPm and Rocklife Youth are partnering to offer FREE before/after-school care for our KIPPsters! Before care is available from 6:30 to 7:40, and after care is from 3:30 to 5:30. If you're interested in enrolling your student, please fill out this form or reach out directly to RockLife via phone or email to nattikah@rynashville.org/615-915-7223.
Open Enrollment for SY 26-27 starts on November 5th! 🎒
We are excited to announce that Open Enrollment at KIPP Nashville starts on November 5th. All new-to-KIPP students can begin filling out applications! If you have students who are not part of our KIPP family or know of someone who does, this is a great opportunity to reach out to the school and ask any questions you may have!
NOTE: All returning students should NOT fill out a new application! Instead, they will fill out an Intent to Return form during the spring!
#KIPPsters are showing up and showing out! The students practice very hard, and they are winning! Come support our Lions and Lady Lions at their games!
MNPS has adjusted their yearly academic calendar, and KIPP Nashville will do the same.
December 2nd: NO SCHOOL for Students
January 5th: NO SCHOOL for Students
January 6th: NOW A REGULAR SCHOOL DAY! Originally a "No School Day" for Students.
This is a friendly reminder to all parents that each student was assigned a computer at the beginning of September, and it's their responsibility to take care of it during the day. We have seen an uptick in computers needing repair, and we kindly ask parents to remind their students to take care of the school's property. According to the family and student handbook, students will be held responsible for any damaged or lost computers. Even by accident, parents can be charged up to $150 for lost or out-of-service computers. We believe our students can meet expectations and avoid unnecessary damage.
🎧Students need to bring headphones to school every day.
They can carry them in their pencil pouch. We highly encourage small earbuds. We use headphones daily during our Math and ELA intervention programs, as well as Music and Computer Science electives.
📑We need every family to sign the family handbook.
Only 40% of families have signed it so far. Completing the Google form below indicates you have read and signed.
💰Paychecks reminder
They go home on Fridays and are expected to be signed and returned the following week. Students receive $5 bonus dollars when they return their signed paycheck. Families can sign it in the Dean's List App or the physical paper copy!
👮🏻 Crossing guard assigned to KACP!
We're excited to communicate that we have been assigned a crossing guard for the school year! They will be helping control traffic on Murfreesboro Pike during arrival and dismissal time. We kindly ask you to listen to the requests for traffic flow as we prioritize your and our students' safety.
Let's work together to ensure we have a calm, safe, and efficient arrival & dismissal process. Please review the reminders below:
Arrival
Please refrain from making illegal turns or stops on Murfreesboro Pike that can endanger others.
We have observed families turning into oncoming traffic on Murfreesboro Pike. We want to remind all families that driving into oncoming traffic to bypass cars waiting to turn into school is both illegal and extremely dangerous.
These actions put you, your children, and others at serious risk and could easily result in a severe accident. Please remember that all drivers must follow traffic laws at all times when entering or exiting the school. Law enforcement may ticket or cite drivers who violate these rules if the problem persists.
Use the designated car rider line for drop off and pick up. Do not enter through the neighborhood from 7:30 - 8:30am and 2:30 - 4pm. It is one way traffic at these times.
Reminder that students are not permitted to exit their vehicles or arrive on campus prior to 7:40am. This poses a safety risk for students as there is no adult supervision prior to 7:40am daily.
For families using the sibling line during arrival: We're noticing car are stopping at the flag pole down at the Elementary School in Lane B, and this causes traffic to back up on Murfreesboro Pike. Please pull all the way forward in Lane B when dropping students off so that traffic continues to flow on Murfreesboro Pike.
Dismissal Changes & Early Dismissal
Our Operations team begins preparing for dismissal at 2:30pm. Please call the front office and/or pick up your KIPPster for early dismissal prior to 2:30pm daily.
Student IDs: When using the car rider line, ensure you have the student ID displayed. A paper copy or screen shot will work! If you do not have the student ID, you will be asked to park and enter the front office to provide identification.
Students must remain on the sidewalk until all vehicles have come to a stop.
Each week, homerooms compete to win "the lion" on Friday, and the prize is dress down for the winning homeroom! The homeroom with the fewest deductions in each grade level will win "the lion" as we want to reward excellent behavior and students meeting expectations.
You will also receive a text if your student's homeroom wins, informing you they have dress down the following day!
Please review the 25-26 KIPP Nashville Attendance Policy from Chief of Schools, Tiffany Russ! Students who miss more than 15 days will be retained. Please ensure your student is present daily from 8:00am - 3:30pm.
The daily goal is 97%!
