Students who are currently enrolled in KACPM and returning the following year are not required to reapply rather must fill out the ITR that the school sends out in Spring. The only students that must apply are 8th graders (applying to KAGHS) and new middle school students through enroll.kippnashville.org.
Every school day matters. Students being present and on-time daily ensures that they maximize their learning time and sets them up for success. Research shows that students that consistently attend school “feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships, and are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, setting them up for a strong future.” At KIPP Nashville attendance is a priority. In accordance with the state law, children ages 6-17 must be in school. Parents/guardians of children between the ages of 6-17 years are responsible for their child’s attendance. If a student accumulates excessive absences the state truancy department could monitor attendance and initiate truancy as needed. Parents/guardians are expected to make sure that their child is in school on-time, every day. Try not to schedule appointments or vacations during school time. Please schedule appointments during school breaks or after dismissal. Since missing class affects academic achievement, repeated absences may be reflected in the student’s grades. Students with excessive absences run the risk of not being promoted to the next grade.
Our cafeteria is managed by a third party company called SLA. Our school currently qualified for Free/Reduced lunches for all of our students, meaning everyone eats for free. All students will receive a pin number (Student ID number) for them to use when they go through the line to pick up their lunch.
Our school is actively working on multiple ways parents and guardians can get more involve in school and volunteer. This can be for a specific event, field trip, or even to help around the school with traffic and decorations. Please check our Parent Involvement Committee page for more details.
There are multiple ways students and arrive and be dismissed in our school. Students can arrive and be dismissed to their personal transportation in the back of the school (Yellow line). We count with bus transportation managed by a third party. All students with an assigned seat at a bus stop will be picked up at the announced time. We request that all parents drop of their children at least 10 minutes in advance to ensure they do not miss the bus. The same will come at arrival and dismissal using the orange path in the picture dropping off student in the main entrance of the school. Late car riders are able to enter the building after 8:00 am through the main entrance and will be marked as tardy. The last mode of transportation is walking. This may be an opportunity for families residing in the near by neighborhoods but must be notified to the school before hand.
For transportation requests and changes go to Transportation or call our school at 629-208-7525.
Student Cell Phone Policy (KACP Handbook, p11)
KACP is a “No Phone Zone.” In addition to phones, we also do not permit bluetooth headphones, tablets,
or smart watches. All phones and other electronic devices should be stored away before students enter
the building and until they exit the building for dismissal. If a student brings a phone on campus, it
should be turned off and stored in the student’s book bag throughout the school time. Students are
never to use their cellphones in school and are not permitted to carry them on their person throughout
the day. Students can use the Main Office phone for emergencies or guardian needs.
