We enrolled Mr Nolan's 5th Class onto our trial.
We separated them into two different groups, Group A and Group B, we used randomisation to do this to ensure a fair trial.
The way we separated the two groups is we wrote an even number of the letter A and B on 32 small pieces of paper and put them in a tub . We asked Mr Nolan, the 5th class teacher, to be an independent observer and to watch over the process choosing of the pieces of paper to make sure it was done fairly.
Pupils who pulled the letter A from the tub were placed in Group A and those who pulled the letter B were placed in Group B.
Group A was the control group without anything to fidget with. They sat with their arms folded at tables that were completely empty except for their pen/pencil which was placed far away from them so they could not touch it.
Group B was the investigation group, who we gave blu tack to so they would fidget. Each pupil in Group B was given a piece of Blu Tak.
