Curriculum

Kingsway Christian School strives to honor Christ in partnership with parents and the Christian community by educating and motivating students to excel in future academic pursuits, to develop a confident Christian worldview, and to impact the world for Christ. Teachers ensure students receive training necessary to be successful as they grow.

Curriculum has been adopted with the goal of having evidence-based learning as the primary way for students to assess and reason. All elementary students participate in weekly computer science content courses, which are also incorporated into cross-curricular subject areas. Middle school students utilize technology across disciplines on a regular basis.

KCS has a student services team that meets with teachers regularly; as well as an Avon Community School resource teacher who supports teachers and students with individual academic needs. Teachers attend regular PLC meetings addressing STEM needs. Middle school students have resource time twice per week in which they are given additional support as needed.

The data from various forms of assessment is compiled to address gaps in student learning related to STEM instruction. Both informal and formal assessments are used such as: student projects, NWEA, ILEARN, and written rubrics. While teachers are currently teaching employability skills, KCS is now in the process of better integrating it into the planned curriculum through lesson plans, rubrics, and student products.
