Teachers as Digital Designers:
Teachers may not think of themselves as digital designers, but in our modern experience
we are, and we have to be. Students need to be exposed to using technology for their
own good as they will use it for the rest of their lives. Teaching students to responsibly
use technology is where a teacher as a digital designer comes in. For example, most
schools use google classroom and creating an organized and student friendly google
classroom is something a teacher as a digital designer needs to do. Making digital
content material available for students who miss days of school is a simple way to keep
students caught up in their classes. Additionally, providing resources for studying in a
more streamlined location like google classroom is helpful for students as well. If a
teacher as a digital designer turns this medium into a one-stop shop for students, they
will have the ability to succeed in their class. Additionally, students need to know where
they can find resources on their own. Heping students find appropriate resources can do
just that. On top of that, creating video lessons on YouTube could be equally helpful. If
you have a particularly difficult lesson, uploading a YouTube video of the lesson and
some examples on how work needs to be done can be even more helpful for students.
This can expose them to just one more way that they can learn content for your class
and show them how to become a lifelong learner.
