"What if.........?"

     In this assignment, students will do some research on a topic from history and then come up with an alternative story pretending that certain events did NOT happen. For instance, what if Abraham Lincoln was not killed at Ford's Theater? 

     Now think about some other "What if.." story from history. I want you to use Google docs, give your paper a title, use MLA formatting, and do some research on a certain story. Give me a brief overview of the story you chose. Reflect on some of the decisions or choices made by some of the key people.  NOW, give me an alternate version of what you think would have happened if this story never occurred. Use your imagination!! Try to be as realistic as you can but you can add some details in your story to make it interesting to you. 

     This paper should not be one page. It should be several. Do a good job on this, take it serious and have some fun with it at the same time!!

Here are some ideas. You may use these or something else that you come up with on your own:

• What if the Japanese never bombed Pearl Harbor?

• What if 911 never happened?

• What if we never landed on the moon?

• What if we lost World War II?

• What if the Cold War turned into a real war and both sides used nuclear weapons?

• What if Native Americans were never pushed off of their land?

• ​What if the internet was never invented? (DEAR GOD!!!!!!!)
