Firstly I would like to thank all these wonderful people who helped us on our journey:
Department of conservation - campsite and hut bookings
Nana McLean - Looking after our cats and garden
Nana and Poppa Cuthbert - Managing the family pre-trip
Keith West (Westy) - Trailer
Jere Keane - polarfleeces
Glenn and Raeywn Martin - Blazing Paddles
Phil and Kirsty - Canoe Safari's
It was a great feeling to get underway on the Friday afternoon. After managing to book huts back in June and load the canoes we hictched Westy's trailer to the Holden Captiva for our 5 hour drive to Ohakune. We were all feeling pretty excited and were so happy to be on holiday.
We called in to see Nita in Hamilton for lunch and organised for the boats to be stored in Tamaruanui at Blazing Paddles. A big thanks to Glen for storing our gear for a week before we got going.
With the gear safety stowed we headed to Wellington for Christmas.
Involving the boys in the planning phase.
The fleet - including barrels and chilly bins.
Lunch with Anita
Levin playground.
Christmas with Ross and Shirley
