There are currently only 10 high school iGEM teams in the United States. This means that iGEM is an extremely novel extracurricular, as there are likely only a few hundred students nationwide participating. Additionally, iGEM is an international research competition, allowing its members to participate directly in cutting-edge research. We highly encourage all driven high school students in the Bay Area to join our team.

Even if you are not interested in synthetic biology, our team has numerous subteams focusing on anything from web development to education. There is a place for everyone in iGEM. See the subteams page for more information.
