For further education, students can choose to study A Levels, BTEC Diplomas and the new T Level
qualification, or apply for an apprenticeship.
All applications are completed online and students are encouraged to have a first choice and a back up
Entry level for A Level
Entry for A Levels at college and sixth form differs as some providers have a points system and depending on what combination of subjects are chosen. However as a guide students will be expected to achieve GCSE grade 5/6's, and for the A level subjects chosen they will need a grade 6 if studied at GCSE. A Level Math requirement can be a grade 7 entry. It is important to check each further education provider for their entry requirements.
Level 1 4/5 GCSE grade 1 -2 (part of this study will include English & Maths)
Level 2 4/5 GCSE grade 2-3 (part of this study will include English & Maths)
Level 3 4 GCSE grade 4 & above including English & Maths
Level 3 Extended Diploma 5 GCSE grade 5 and above (English & Maths minimum grade 4) and is equivalent to 3 A levels

Entry level for T Levels
T Levels are new courses which follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A levels. These were launched in September 2020. Courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training or study.
Entry level will be 5 GCSE Grade 4/5 including English and Maths
