As an Anafim (Gr. 4-5) group, we decided to create a guidebook to make this special place even more special. The Gann Community is one of its kind... and so is this guidebook! This guidebook is a place to showcase the deeper meaning of this holy place. This guidebook is also many other things, such as a way to explain the spiritual side of the farm, a reminder to take care of the Earth, and a reminder that we are all in this together.
At the beginning, we thought of this project as a website for the Gann Community Farm. We later realized what we were researching all fell under the question: How do we honor the Earth in a Jewish way? As a group, we worked on Jewish Agricultural Values. We all helped one another with each other's project. We combined quotes, pictures, videos, and our thoughts. We worked on games and riddles. This guidebook is a mix of all our thoughts and feelings.
If you want to see some beautiful signs go to the section titled Our Signs. If you want to learn about Shabbat and Shmita, or maybe a little about Peah and Sharing Abundance, then go to the section titled Jewish Agricultural Values. This guidebook has it all, so enjoy!!!
We all believe this has been a team effort. At the beginning we were doing nothing besides listening to the 'hamster dance'. Later, we got on track and started to grind out words onto paper. In the end, we have created this amazing website with the hope of people realizing that farming is so much more than that. Farming is helping the community, farming is teaching, farming is even a way of showing gratitude to the Earth. Farming is a mitzvah!
