Yearbook Jostens Yearbook Avenue
The yearbook course has been designed to provide students with the journalism skills and the ability to apply those skills to the actual production of the yearbook. Units of study include teamwork, responsibility, brainstorming, content, coverage, concept, reporting, writing, headlines, captions, editing, photography, typography, design, graphics, finances, yearbook campaigns, advertising and distribution.
Actual work results in the current volume of the school’s yearbook. The publication strives to maintain a tradition of excellence in which the school and the community can take pride. Mastery of the goals and objectives fully verses staff members in all areas of publication production and students should be able to pursue journalism with a strong background either in their advanced studies or in a career.
At the end of this course, you will:
Learn marketing skills and sell ads for the yearbook.
Sell yearbooks.
Produce page spreads for the current yearbook.
Master the graphic design skills necessary to use Jostens Yearbook Avenue yearbook program.
How to succeed in this course
Attend class, participate in class discussions and activities, review notes and vocabulary daily, meet deadlines, work with your student advisor, and complete class work and projects to the BEST of your ability.

Attendance
Students are expected to attend class every day.
Upon return of an absence, the student is responsible for obtaining all missing assignments and class notes from the teacher.
Classroom Participation
It is a requirement to participate in class discussion and group work. Grades will be a reflection of class participation. Students will often be assigned to work in a group that will be selected by the teacher. Students will be given their assignments/groups at the beginnings of each class period and expected to work quietly with their group members.
When you first enter the classroom
Students must immediately go to their assigned seats. Students are not allowed to wander around the classroom.
Students will log into Jostens Yearbook Avenue and work independently on their assigned pages.
Sign in and out
Students must sign in and out when leaving and re-entering the classroom during class time.
Academic Dishonesty
Any student caught cheating or copying will be given a “0” on the assignment, activity, or test. Any student allowing this will also receive a “0”. This grade cannot be made up and the assignment, activity or test cannot be redone.
Classroom Behavior
First offense is a verbal warning.
Second offense the student will be given a reflection sheet to complete. The teacher and student will conference about the repeated behavior. Parents will be contacted after class concerning the repeated behavior.
If the behavior happens a third time in the same class period, the student will be referred to the office concerning the offense.
Fighting, bullying and any other zero tolerance behaviors are automatic office referrals.
