Define phase

Designers use the insights gathered during the Empathize phase and define the core problem or challenge they aim to solve. This phase involves synthesizing many information collected and gaining a clear understanding of the users' needs, pain points, and aspirations through qualitative and quantitative data analysis (Friis Dam & Siang, n.d.)

In this stage, designers analyze and interpret the data, looking for patterns, themes, and commonalities.

After this step: the Designers identify the user's needs, and draw inferences to make insights from the user's needs.

They identify key insights that emerge from the user’s needs and use them to frame the problem statement. The goal is to define the problem in a way that is specific, actionable, and human-centered, allowing for innovative and focus.
