Antecedent Strategies are interventions staff will do prior to behavior. These strategies are a redesign of the environment and serve the purpose of decreasing motivation to demonstrate problem behavior in order to access attention from or interaction with others.
Non-contingent access: proactively provide student access to attention from or interaction with others on a routine basis
Consider the quality and type of attention or interaction that the student is seeking
Consider whether there is a specific individual that the student is seeking attention or interaction from
Consider whether the student prefers attention or interaction from others in a particular place (in front of others, privately, etc.)
Access to competing reinforcers when attention is not available
If attention from or interaction with others is not available, consider providing access to other reinforcers or tasks/activities where attention is not as valuable (i.e. technology)
Enhanced predictability measures: clarify expectations for when student can attention from or interaction with others
First, then

Token or "working for" strip
*When considering enhanced predictability measures, the response effort, wait time, or required work activities required must meet the student where they are at - must be easily attainable and commensurate with the student's current abilities
