Past festivals that ran occurred at least three times but ended in 2006 due primarily to budget concerns. Efforts have been made to restart it several times but have not been productive. The festival celebrated steamboat culture in Cincinnati and featured many unique steamboats along the public landing. This event, like the monument, commemorates a small slice of steamboat history. And it particularly highlights the steamboat enthusiasm in the early 2000s in Cincinnati that led to the festival and monument.
