Where advocates come together for a safer internet through awareness of issues focusing on safety, information literacy, and technology use.
Today, nearly all young children and families use digital media, yet as organizations and individuals, libraries and their staff are only beginning to embrace this reality (Rideout, 2017). It is critical that we reflect the reality of our communities and promote not only the possibilities and benefits of the internet, but how to safely and effectively use it as well. As library staff and media mentors, we should become well-versed in this technology and update our professional toolkit and practices to reflect the popularity of digital media (ALSC 2015).
