The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) requires students participating in activities such as marching band, cheer, and athletics to have a valid Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) on file.
MSHSAA officially began requiring physicals for marching band participants on August 1, 2022. This mandate applies to all members, including color guard and twirlers, requiring a valid physical on file with the school before participation. These physicals are valid for two years from the date of issue.
Even though the physical is valid for two years, MSHSAA still requires certain pre-participation documents to be completed and updated annually. These include medical updates, parent permission, insurance verification, concussion education acknowledgment, and emergency contact information.
At Kennett, these annual forms are completed electronically through PRIVIT. Families will receive instructions each year to log in and complete the required documents before students may participate in band activities. When available, FCC Primary clinic and School Based Health Clinics will offer free physicals to help families meet the biannual physical requirement.
Students must have both a current physical on file and completed annual paperwork before participating in band camps, rehearsals, or performances governed by MSHSAA.
