Mr. Dustin Bush
Mr. Bush is an experienced music educator and performer with a career spanning early learners through high school, teaching band, choir, orchestra, music theory, and music history. He holds a degree in Church Music from Evangel University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Missouri State University.
Over the years, he has built and directed music programs, staged musicals, and led ensembles across Missouri and beyond. His teaching experience includes roles with Play and Sing His Praises Homeschool Program, Grace Classical Academy, and Clever R-V Schools. He has also served in leadership with the National Fine Arts Festival, the Boys Choir of Springfield, and other arts organizations.
As a horn player, Mr. Bush has performed with ensembles including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra, and Four State Symphonic Winds. He currently directs the Kennett Municipal Band, performs with the Big Band of the Heartland, and serves as the Southeast Representative for the Missouri Small-Schools Band Directors Association.
Mr. Bush is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including NAfME, NBA, ASBDA, and MMEA.
Born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, Melanie Bush is a graduate of Central High School. Melanie went on to attend Evangel University graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education with certification in instrumental education in 2004 with honors. Her primary instrument is clarinet.
In 2004 she was hired by the National Fine Arts Festival, national youth ministries, a department with the General Council of the Assemblies of God to serve in the role of Administrative Coordinator. In 2014 she left that position, retaining a contract position with Fine Arts while becoming a stay-at-home homeschooling mother of (now) 6 children.
In January of 2016 Mrs. Bush joined the teaching staff at Play and Sing His Praises Homeschool Band, Choir, and Orchestra, under the direction of Kathy Love. She was the director of both Intermediate Band and Clarinet Choir, as well as an assistant teacher of Beginner Band, Adoration Band, and Intermediate Band Music Theory, and was the Music History teacher.
In January 2019, She started directing the band program at Gloria Deo Academy, a University-Model homeschool in Springfield, MO.
Until moving to Kennett, Mrs. Bush was an active member of Four State Symphonic Winds and Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra, and an occasional member of the Drury University Pep Band. She also served as a parent committee member and music librarian for the Boys Choir of Springfield.
Mrs. Bush plays a vital roll, as well as the clarinet, in the Kennett Municipal Band.
Ms. Pitts is a former member of the Kennett Marching Indian Band Color Guard. She currently serves as a Paraprofessional at Masterson Elementary.
Mrs. Busch is a graduate of Kennett and a mother of a Kennett majorette. She currently serves as the Principal's Secretary at Kennett High School.
