About

All three advanced bands (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band) are designed to introduce students to new, challenging literature, and each bands follows the same TEKS curriculum for Keller ISD. All bands have very similar instrumentation. All three bands play a Fall Concert, Winter Concert, and Spring Concert, and perform at our KISD Marching Expo. They all three participate in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest in the spring. All also participate in one extra contest each year. Members of all three bands have the opportunity to try-out for the Keller ISD All-District Band, Region 30 TMEA All-Region Band, and perform for a judge at the Keller ISD Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students in all three bands are invited to all of our social events and to the VRMS Summer Band Camp.

Section Rehearsals: Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band are required to do weekly sectionals during the school year, and occasionally have additional full band rehearsals outside of the school day. Concert Band will have only one or two extra rehearsals for the entire school year, and no required weekly sectionals. All rehearsal dates are always announced far in advance to help with family scheduling.

The only difference between the three VRMS bands is the difficulty of musical literature that students are responsible to rehearse and perform for concert and competitions.

--Concert Band performs middle school-level music, appropriate to their age level and ability, while challenging them with new musical techniques and curriculum.

--Symphonic Band performs advanced middle school level literature and has weekly section rehearsals.

--Wind Ensemble consistently performs advanced middle school level and High School level literature and has weekly section rehearsals.
