Blake Wells is a musician, educator, and arranger based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In his early musical life, he was a part of the Trinity Springs Titan Band (2010-2012), and the Timber Creek High School Falcon Band (2012-2016). Instilled with a love of music and education, Blake pursued further musical studies at Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance. While at Texas Tech, Blake participated in all major performing ensembles. As a member of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Blake performed at the 2018 Midwest Band Clinic and Convention. Blake also studied extensively with the jazz faculty, most notably Dr. Ben Haugland and Professor Stephen Jones, and performed in both big bands and jazz combos. As a part of the jazz program, Blake performed alongside trumpet legends in the jazz industry, such as Ingrid Jensen, Allen Vizzutti, and Tom Harrell. As a trumpet student, Blake studied with Dr. Andrew Stetson and Professor Richard Harris, and performed with multiple trumpet ensembles in the live rounds of the National Trumpet Competition.
Upon graduation from Texas Tech, Blake continued his studies at Southern Methodist University under the study of Kevin Finamore. Blake performed with the Meadows Wind Ensemble, the Meadows Symphony Orchestra, and the Meadows Jazz Combo, an ensemble which performed arrangements he wrote.
When he is not teaching or performing, Blake loves to spend his time cooking, playing video games, watching tv, and hanging out with his wife Rachel and their many, many pets.
