What is it & who can participate?
Battle of the Books is a reading competition designed to encourage enthusiasm for reading, as well as improve reading skills and comprehension. Upper elementary students (3rd and 4th grade) will compete in teams to show their knowledge of this year’s ten selected books.
When does the club meet?
We will start meeting during the 2024-2025 school year. More information will be sent home with interested students in September.
How will teams be formed?
In December, BOB participants take a quiz that covers content from ALL ten books. The quiz results and participation in the BOB meetings will help us select the two Book Battle teams. Twelve students will make up the Battle of the Books teams, along with several alternates.
Is this a required activity?
Participation in this club is optional.
How do we get started?
Students are welcome to get a headstart reading the books on the list this summer. Copies of the books will be available for checkout during the school year.
