If you are or related to those who are Japanese nationality

If you are a Japanese National

Japanese nationals (including those with dual nationalities) must enter Japan with a Japanese passport.
If you do not have one, apply for it at the Japanese embassy or consulate and make sure not to enter Japan with a foreign passport 

If you are a Spouse or Child of Japanese National

If you are a spouse or child of a Japanese National, you have the choice of either:

1) Applying for a student visa, or 2) Applying for a "Spouse or Child of a Japanese National visa".

How to apply

Regarding the application procedure, consult the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country directly.

Notes

• A Certificate of Eligibility is not required for a  2)"Spouse or Child of a Japanese National visa".

• Although the application procedure for a  2)"Spouse or Child of a Japanese National visa" is simpler than 1) Applying for a student visa, if entering Japan with the latter visa, you need to surrender various advantages provided to International students.
