Q1. Does Keio accept late arrivals or early leave due to the students' internship or other academic conflicts?
A1. Keio does NOT allow late arrival and early leave due to any personal circumstances.
Q2. Can I skip the orientation?
A2. No. The orientation is mandatory for all exchange students. If you miss it due to any personal circumstances, it is your responsibility to catch up on the information provided during the orientation.
Q3. Can I receive the official transcript earlier?
A3. No. Keio cannot issue your official transcript before the designated schedule. If you are planning to apply to another institution after your mobility at Keio, please plan well in advance.
Q1. I do not have enough GPA. Am I still eligible to apply for the exchange program at Keio?
A1. Yes. You can apply for Keio's exchange program as long as you have been nominated by your home university.
Q2. Can I graduate from my home university before completing the mobility at Keio?
A2. No. All applicants must have student status at their home university throughout their period of study at Keio.
Q3. Can I use TOEIC or IELTS scores to meet the English proficiency requirement instead of TOEFL?
A3. Yes. As long as the certificate is accepted by the home university, it can be used as a valid proof of English proficiency.
Q1. I do not have my passport yet. Do I need to submit my passport by the deadline?
A1. You may submit a copy of your passport at a later date, as soon as it has been issued.
Q2. Do applicants need to send original copies of the application documents to Keio?
A2. No. We only accept applications online.
Q1. I have a dual nationality. Which one should I indicate on the application?
A1. Your nationality must match the nationality shown on your passport. If you hold Japanese nationality, please select 'Japanese' and upload a copy of your Japanese passport.
Q3. Do I need to include my current education in my educational history?
A3. Yes. You must include your current university information, including your expected graduation date.
Q4. I am currently waiting for the scholarship result. Would it be possible to submit the Certificate of Financial Support after the submission deadline?
A4. In that case, please provide a Certificate of Financial Support showing that your funding will come from personal or family sources.
Q1. How the JASSO scholarship recipients are selected?
A1. The selection process for the JASSO scholarship is not disclosed to applicants.
Q2. I am the spouse or child of a Japanese national. What visa options are available to me?
A2. You may apply for either a Student visa or a Spouse or Child of Japanese National Visa.
The latter does not require a Certificate of Eligibility.
For application procedures, please consult the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country.
Note: While this visa is generally easier to obtain than a Student Visa, it does not grant access to the benefits available to international students.
