Those subject to this requirement must submit a “TB Clearance Certificate” issued by a Designated Panel Clinic as an additional document for the COE application.
【Exceptions】
If the residence permit or other documentation issued by the government of the applicant’s place of residence confirms that your current place of residence is outside the target countries or region, you will be exempt from the TB screening. In that case, please submit the following documents instead of the TB Clearance Certificate.
■ A copy of your residence permit or other document proving your current country of residence
■ Residence Permit (Please download the document from here and fill in the necessary information. )
For more information, please refer to “Notice on Japan Pre-Entry Tuberculosis Screening(JPETS)”.
【Note】
If the TB screening is conducted too early, there is a risk that the "Tuberculosis Free Certificate" will expire by the time we apply for the COE, as its validity is generally 180 days.
For your reference, we usually apply for the COE in December for the Spring semester and in June for the Fall semester, to comply with the rule that students must enter Japan within three months of the COE issuance date.
