Throughout the year, students will explore the following topics:
Numbers and Operations: Students will apply and connect their understanding of number systems to effectively solve authentic problems. Unit 1 addresses integers and rational number operations.
Expressions and equations: Students will manipulate and formulate expressions and equations to efficiently represent relationships. Unit 2 addresses algebraic expressions, equations and inequalities.
Ratios and Proportions: Students will apply proportional relationships to solve real-world and mathematical problems. Unit 3 addresses ratios, proportions and percents, as well as similar figures.
Geometry: Students will construct, model, and apply geometric relationships to solve authentic problems effectively. Unit 4 addresses constructing shapes, circles, and solving problems involving intersecting lines.
Statistics and Probability: Students will interpret and analyze data to model probability and communicate predictions. Unit 5 addresses graphing and interpreting data, measures of center, and probability of events.
