Too sick for school?
Please use these guidelines when deciding whether or not to send your child to school due to illness.
Your child should not come to school if:
Fever greater than 100 (check temperature before giving fever-reducing medication)
Severe or persistent cough- frequent continuous coughing or breathing concerns/wheezing
A Rash that is new, unexplained, worsening or rapidly changing, or spreading, especially if has other symptoms of illness or fever.
Extreme fatigue where they are not able to participate in classroom activities.
Any breathing concerns or wheezing not controlled with prescribed asthma medication
Vomiting or frequent diarrhea
Distracting pain from earache, sore throat, headache, or recent injury
Conjunctivitis-bloodshot eye with yellow or green draining or crusting to eyelashes
Your child can return to school if:
Fever free x 24 hours without medication,
24 hours after the last episode of vomiting/diarrhea
Symptom improvement - (ex. able to manage at school with minor congestion, occasional cough, tolerating food and fluids)
