Welcome Team 7-1 Language Arts Students:

I am thrilled to be a part of the KRMS community, and I am looking forward to working with you this year. I hope to inspire you to expand your perspective through reading and reflective writing.  I, too, am always learning, and eager to do so. I know we will all learn a great deal from each other in the coming months. To continually improve our critical skills in reading and writing, I subscribe to The Daily Five (and I hope you will too!): (1) Read to Self; (2) Work on Writing; (3) Read to Someone; (4) Word Study; and (5) Listen to Reading [thedailycafe.com]. We will get into the habit of doing these things on a regular basis.

Please bring the following to class:

1. Your Chromebook 

2. Writing Utensils 

3. Composition Book for Journaling 

4. Highlighters

5. Eagerness to Learn

This year, we will be reading a variety of stories, informational texts, and poetry. We will learn new words to expand your vocabulary and help you improve reading comprehension. You will have a chance to tap your creative energy, to engage in close reading, to analyze content as it relates to your prior knowledge, and to apply what you learn within the context of our day to day lives. I will encourage you to ask questions, to challenge ideas, to listen carefully to others, and to reflect upon your own personal growth and learning along the way.
