About me
I am delighted to be teaching Language Arts at KRMS! Prior to this appointment, I held a variety of teaching and administrative roles in education. I believe that we are all responsible for our own learning, and that, through self-advocacy and the courage to ask questions and share ideas, we can be our best selves while helping others along the way.
I have three grown children, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Family is very important to me, and I really enjoy the time we spend together.
My dog, Samson Elijah, and I are a registered Pet Partners Therapy Team. We are trained to work in schools and hospitals, and last year we visited patients at St. Joseph's Hospital every Thursday evening. Patients appreciated the love and joy Samson brought to them as he made his "rounds" and lifted their spirits. Samson is an allergy-friendly Labradoodle with a Canine Good Citizen credential.
I am a first generation college student, and I am passionate about the value of education. I am a voracious reader, a novelist, and a past journalist. I recently signed with Trident Media Literary Agency for my debut novel, Sublime Dignity. It is currently under review for publication.
I hold a Doctorate in Education from the University of North Florida, a Master of Art degree in Writing and Literature from Rivier University, a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Franklin Pierce University.
In my free time I love to hike, bike, kayak, and generally spend time outdoors whenever possible. I love to travel, and I have visited more than 30 countries on four continents.
