Checklist for Backpacking/Tent Trips
MUST HAVE ITEMS:
____HIKING BOOTS: full leather boots are best
waterproof them with SnoSeal or other product
make sure they are broken in before the trip
NO HIKING SNEAKERS!!!!!
____BACKPACK: large enough to pack your gear AND some group gear and group food

____SLEEPING BAG: must be rated to at least 0 degrees F
Lightweight, mummy bag, NOT rectangular camp bag

____SLEEPING BAG PAD insulate yourself from the earth

____3 PLASTIC GARBAGE BAGS: one to line main compartment of backpack
another to put your sleeping bag in
one extra just in case
Wet clothes and wet sleeping bag make for a miserable time.
____SMALL ZIPLOC BAGS: for camera, book, other items that need to be watertight
____FLASHLIGHT: Headlamps are easiest to use,

Or bring a small, lightweight flashlight
____EXTRA BATTERIES: Bring one extra set of batteries for your flashlight
____2 NALGENE WATER BOTTLES: filled with water
insulated with wool sock for Nov. trip
NOT CAMELBACKS, ECT. THEY ARE USELESS IN COLD
____GORP: trail mix in a Ziploc bag
Packed in a place that you can easily reach while hiking
____TOILETRIES: Toothbrush
Toothpaste (TRAVEL SIZE)

____ Mess Kit Insulated mug with a lid, bowl (not a cut off GatorAde bottle or any other foolish thing that has appeared on recent trips), and a real spoon
____ KITCHEN SET stove, fuel, cookset (divide this among your kitchen group)
