Research Posters

These are the posters that were made to summarize our research about the history of the Abenaki before 1600. We used this research to make our final museum exhibits.

Abenaki stories

In Abenaki times long ago they used to gather around. Instead of going to school people told stories to kids so they could learn. The stories were about their history and their Family members who passed. This sounds pretty cool!

Instead of doing writing and doing math and learning. They didn't have the supplies to make a school so they just told stories to help the kids learn and get a good good look at their past.

I think the kids loved it when they spent time together. They were very happy to get to talk to each other and have fun.

The other thing about the Abenaki is when they got into arguments how did they solve them? All the Abenaki people would gather around and each person would get to tell their side of the story and all the people got the chance to speak. Then everyone would say oh that person was wrong or I believe that person did it because that person caused this problem or this person shouldn't have done that. They were talking as a group instead of just one person getting to say it like a king. They just gathered around as a group with ideas how to solve this problem.

Sometimes when someone killed an animal they would sacrifice them and thank them for what they did. Then they would eat that animal. Everyone had a purpose in the village and they always loved it.
