FAQs regarding Student e-mail accounts

Q: How do I obtain a student e-mail account?

A: You must be a registered student of the Kearsarge Regional School District in grades six through twelve. You must have a Responsible Use Policy form on file that has been signed by a parent with/guardian.

Q: What is my official student e-mail address?

A: Your official e-mail address will be your full first name (as it appears in PowerSchool) followed by a period (.) followed by your entire last name (as it appears in PowerSchool) followed by @kearsarge.org. Note: Your e-mail will not include Jr. or III or other such designations such as hypens or apostrophes.

Q: May I change my official student e-mail address?

A: No, you may not.

Q: May I select my user name?

A: No, you may not. User names will be designated using student names for ease of identification by all KRSD personnel and students.

Q: May I change my user name?

A: No, you may not.

Q: What is my password?

A: Your password will be given to you after all the necessary documents and permissions are logged in.

Q: May I change my password?

A: Yes, you may change your password, and it is good practice to change your password frequently to maintain the integrity of your account. Do not share your password with anyone! It is your responsibility to remember your password. Remember that a strong password contains numbers, letters, capitals and symbols and is a minimum of 8 characters in length.

Q: How long can I keep my official student e-mail account?

A: Your account will be active for the length of time that you remain a student in the District. Your account will be de-activated after you graduate or transfer from KRSD.

Q: How and when do I access my official student e-mail account?

A: How: mail.google.com

Username: will be given to you during your initial training session. If you are already using Kearsarge Google docs, then your Username for GMail is the same.

Password: will be given to you during your initial training session. If you are already using Kearsarge Google docs, then your Password for GMail is the same.

When: While on school property, you may only use school computers designated by your instructor or school personnel. This includes school computers in labs, classrooms and the Resource Center. You may only access the school provided e-mail account when you have permission from school personnel. Students accessing e-mail at times and from locations not approved by school personnel will run the risk of losing e-mail privileges. While at home, access anytime/anywhere with an Internet connection and parent permission.

Q: Is there a quota on the e-mail system?

A: No, there is not an email quota. Google Apps for Education allows unlimited storage for student accounts.

Q: What do I do if I receive a threatening e-mail from a stranger or a fellow student?

A: If you receive any inappropriate e-mail, contact a school person immediately. If you are unable to reach a school staff member immediately, you should print out the correspondence to show later.

Q: What are the rules that I need to follow to keep my e-mail account active?

A: Refer to the documents you received during the initial training session. The Responsible Use Policy has all the rules within.

Q: May I use my Kearsarge email account to sign up for social media or Web 2.0 accounts?

A: You may use your Kearsarge email account to sign up for these type of accounts only if directed to do so by a teacher. You may not use your school email account to sign up for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. These are not tools currently being used for academice purposes.
