Any classwork not finished during class time becomes homework due the next class time.
The purpose of homework is to practice what we did in class and sometimes to review prior knowledge. I try to give no more than 45 minutes of math homework when it is assigned. If your student is working on my math homework for more than 60 minutes and they are not getting a lot accomplished, please ask them to stop doing the homework and come see me to get some clarification on the assignment and some extra help.
Please send me a note or an email saying they were working on the assignment for over 30 minutes and not getting far, and they will not be penalized for not getting it done on time. (I would like to see the work they did do in the time they were working on it to better understand where we need to focus our attention.)
Classwork and Homework are tracked in Powerschool and assigned an assortment of the following labels:
Missing > The assignment was not handed in or shown to me / There was not enough of the assignment or work to show it was truly attempted
Incomplete > The assignment was not completed as expected (missing problems or missing work)
Late > The assignment was handed in after the due date, it may still be incomplete and will have that label as well
Absent > Your student was not here the day the assignment was assigned or collected and therefor has extended time to complete the assignment
