President Beck called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm
· Welcome Statement – Annie
Introductions: Annie Beck, Kate Kull, Eula Kozma, Kate Smith, Greta Wright, Becca Beckman, Anica Scekic, Molly Hopkins, Bethany Engelhardt, Taryn Johnson, Margaux Nichols, Lori Lavolpicelo, Melissa Hamel, Cara Leone, Andrea Arib , Lynn Jundt

· Update from Nurse’s Office – Margaux
Cougar Pantry is located in the gym and contains donated food. Provides food to families in need so that the kids have food over the weekend. Margaux fills about 12 backpacks each Friday.
Taryn Johnson helps with food from the bank and Anita Billado helps with Sotherby’s. Also provide to the local VNA so that families receive a Thanksgiving meal and Christmas gifts.
In November, Penny Murano through Destination New London/Shine Local will have boxes for food donations at local stores to donate through the entire district. Molly will speak to Salina and Peter, managers at Hannafords, to see if they can help with donations.
Margaux is ok with underwear and socks right now but can use boys pants.
Would be nice to have a full size refrigerator for fridgerated items.
Proposed doing a “stuff a bus” at another time of year, after the holidays; Annie to talk to the SAU.
· Fall Festival Review – Kim
Great success, even though we had to move the date because of rain. Attendance was higher than last year. Many liked that it was held on a Friday.
Parent Suggestions:
Have a rotating schedule so that parents who volunteered could also spend time with their children.
More volunteers - had hoped for HS volunteers but was thrown off because of the rain date.
Ask for restaurants to donate food, desserts etc next year.
Spread stations out so that smaller kids wouldn’t be over-whelmed. Map out the stations.
Not enough pumpkins for all kids.
Tickets per child or per family as some kids are monopolizing and leaving some kids out.
· Education/Winter Activities – Greta
“Transitions” - Oct 22, 6pm – For special ed families who have kids aging out of the system, suggested audience is parents whose kids are 14 yo and up. At the HS.
“Internet safety” - Nov 19, Snow Date – Nov 20. At the HS.
(the next PTO meeting is also scheduled for Nov 19 – Culture survey results to be presented.)
Winter Activities –
Greta to focus on ski program. She works on Fridays so will need someone to help the day of skiing.
Kate Smith to handle the rest.
Do volunteers need to be fingerprinted to be at the mountain (Kim to ask Kelly)? (Don’t need to be fingerprinted to work at the bookfair)
With a 30% increase in students, we may have issues with meeting the max quotas. May need additional options. Ie - Only 40 students can do swimming, last year 38 signed up. Greta, Kate Smith and Annie are meeting with Kelly on 10/4 to discuss Winter Activities.
· Treasurer’s Report – Heather
ABSENT
· Book Fair – Eula
Book Fair is next week. Only a few volunteers are needed. Cleanup may be needed for at 5-7.
Open House Tuesday night, 10/8.
Eula to write something up for the teachers so that they know the PTO will help purchase gifts for students who can’t afford.
· Square 1 Art Update - Kim
Mrs Marsh is helping to ensure a more quality product.
· Volunteer Update – Kate
Book Fair signups went smoothly in AtoZ.
Flu Clinic is coming up. Oct 23. Will need 4-5 people.
· New Business/Ideas/Upcoming Events
Chili Cookoff – NL Rec asking if we would like to participate again. Decided against doing it this year. Only raise $65.
President Beck Adjourned the Meeting at 7:02.

· Welcome Statement – Annie
o What is the PTO? We are an organization comprised of parents and teachers that support our students and the school. We plan and manage events throughout the year such as the Fall Festival, Bingo Nights, Teacher Appreciation Lunch. We have fundraisers like Square 1 Art, Book Fairs, and our big spaghetti dinner in March. We support school sponsored events such as Open House, Veterans Day Lunch, Math & Literacy Nights.
o What do we do with the money we raise? We fund 100% of all field trips. We help to maintain the playground, purchase equipment & support our teachers with books and supplies.
o In addition to fundraising - We maintain the school’s database and directory, send out newsletters & information, & organize volunteers.
o We do not require a formal membership or charge to join. We encourage as much involvement as you can. We understand that volunteering can come in many different ways – baking for our bake sales, contributing food for an event, helping at events or doing some things virtually if needed.
o We welcome new ideas, suggestions and participation in our meetings! You can always reach out via email (Kresnewlondonpto@gmail.com, on FB messenger or new this year we will do a suggestion box at meetings!

Email address: kresnewlondonpto@gmail.com Annie receives this email.
Kelly proposed future fundraising be used for a new stage and bleachers in the “big gym”. This is district space. Had to take down the old curtain and lighting for safety reasons. Curtain is $30,000.
Kelly requested $25,000 in the budget over the next three years.
Requesting PTO to use their networks to find help to make improvements.
A grant is being written to ask for money.
