"DESIGNATED SUPPORTS"

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Texas Education Agency (TEA) accessibility policies may apply to any student taking STAAR EOC or TELPAS depending on his or her needs and whether or not the student meets the eligibility criteria, if applicable. These policies are divided into 3 main categories:

-Accessibility Features

-Designated Supports

-Designated Supports Requiring TEA Approval

For more information regarding specific types of accommodations, please visit TEA's Accommodation Resource site.

In general, these procedures and materials are available to any student who regularly benefits from the use of these procedures or materials during instruction. A student cannot be required to use them during testing.

DESIGNATED SUPPORTS

These are locally-approved supports for students who meet eligibility criteria either through 504, Special Education, and/or LPAC services.

DESIGNATED SUPPORTS

(REQUIRING TEA APPROVAL)

The appropriate team of people at the campus level (e.g., ARD committee, ARD committee in conjunction with LPAC, Section 504 placement committee, LPAC, RTI team, student assistance team) listed on the policy document determines whether the student meets all of the specific eligibility criteria and, if so, submits an Accommodation Request Form to TEA.

*Eligibility is reviewed upon completion of both criteria listed above. For further information, please contact your student's MRHS LPAC representative.
