College Prep Programs
College Matchpoint: College Matchpoint has put together a great online guide that lists these opportunities all in one place. The guide includes location, area of interest, cost (if there is one), grade level accepted, when the application is due and a link.
Appily Free & Low-Cost Pre-College Summer Programs: Pre-college summer programs allow high school students to explore college life, academic interests, and potential career paths before officially applying or enrolling. These programs often take place on college campuses and offer a chance to participate in college-level courses, hands-on projects, and campus activities. Pre-college summer programs provide an invaluable opportunity to prepare for the future and make informed decisions about next steps.
Matchlighers: The Matchlighters Scholars Program pairs highly motivated juniors from low-income households with experienced college counselors for one-on-one college counseling and essay coaching support. It's totally free and applying couldn't be easier.
QuestBridge College Prep Scholars: The College Prep Scholars Program equips high-achieving high school juniors (top 5-10% of class) from low-income backgrounds with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to apply to top colleges.
QuestBridge is looking for high school juniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite financial challenges. They take a holistic approach to reviewing applications and do not have absolute criteria or cut-offs for GPA, standardized test scores, income, or other factors.
College Fly-Ins
Some colleges offer fly-in programs, which is where they fly qualified prospective students in for a campus visit. This typically includes free transportation, housing and meals and is a great opportunity to see a campus from a student perspective.
